Trampoline

Furthest Throw of a Person

Juha Rasanen of Finland set the record for the furthest throw of a person in Madrid in 2006. Unfortunately there are no subtitles on this clip, but you can watch Rasanen’s throws at 3:32, 4:41 and 5:56. I feel sorry for the guy that’s being thrown, but I guess it’s cool that he got to be a part of a record-setting throw.

Furthest Under Ice Swim

Dutchman Wim Hof is literally a human iceman. He swam 57.5 meters under sub-zero ice-cold water wearing only swim trunks and goggles. Hof keeps from freezing because he has perfected an ancient form of yoga called inner fire, which allows him to keep his temperature even. He still looks pretty cold when he gets out of the water though.

World’s Tallest Man

Check out the world’s tallest man in the video below. Sultan KÃsen of Turkey measured in at a staggering 8 feet 1 inch. He recently took the record from Xi Shun of China, who measures 7 feet 8.95 inches. KÃsen also has the world’s largest hands and the world’s largest feet, making him a triple-Guinness World Record holder!

Largest Department Store

The coastal city of Busan in South Korea has a prestigous world record to sit proudly alongside its beautiful beaches. The brand-new Shinsengae Centumcity Department Store is now officially recognized by Guinness World Records™ as the largest department store in the world.

The architecturally impressive building has a huge 293,905 m² (3,163,567 ft²) of retail space. This beats the previous record holder, the famous Macy's store in New York City, by over 95,000 m² (1,022,571 ft²).

The Shinsegae structure contains floor upon floor of designer names representing everything from fashion to books and from kitchenware to toys. It also contains a beautiful spa, a relaxing roof garden and an impressive 60-tee golf driving range.

Guinness World Records Adjudicator Michael Whitty attended an official ceremony after studying the extensive surveyor's report and personally viewing the entire store. He was joined on stage by executives from the Shinsegai Corporation as well as the mayor of Busan. A large and eager group of journalists, photographers and cameramen were also in attendance as well as hundreds of happy shoppers. The story ran on national news all day and night. Many congratulations to the Shinsengai Corporation and to the city of Busan.

Biggest Basketball Shot

Guinness World Records has today approved a new record for the greatest height for a successful basketball shot.
Australian sharp-shooter Kyle Nebel managed to score from an incredible height of 66.89 m (219 ft 5 in) from the top of a light tower at the Western Australian Cricket Ground earlier this year.
Kyle and three teammates from the 'How Ridiculous' team of basketball trick shot artists spent more than two and a half hours attempting shots from the tower before his successful attempt.

University of Alberta Largest Dodgeball Match

University of Alberta Guiness World Record 2011 Largest Dodgeball Match

On the 5th of February 2010, the University of Alberta set a Guiness World record for the largest dodgeball game ever played, with 1,198 players. In September 2010, the University of California (Irivine) took that record away with a game consisting of 1,745 players.

Dodgeball Guinness World Record set by 1,200 U of A Students

1,200 students, staff and faculty at the University of Alberta unofficially smash the Guinness World Record for most players in a single dodgeball game at the Universiade Pavilion better known as "The Butterdome" in Edmonton, Alta. on February 5, 2010. The former record was 450. The event was organized by the U of A students' union

Bubble Blower

I bet you tried to make the biggest gum bubble yourself, but I also bet you never made one this big. Her name is Susan Montgomery Williams and she made this record live in a Spanish TV show.

Human Flag Dominic Lacasse

Dominic Lacasse is a Canadian performer, gymnast and acrobat who, in this video, breaks the Guinness World Record for the longest ever human flag.  He holds it for an unbelievable thirty-nine seconds, which I suppose you should expect from a Cirque du Soleil member.

Most Frying Pans Rolled in a Minute

The most frying pans rolled in one minute is 8 and was achieved by Carlino Triberti (Italy) on the set of Lo Show dei Record in Rome, Italy, on 27 March 2010. This video is part of our video of the week series – each Wednesday we bring you one of the most interesting and exciting record-breaking videos from our archives!

Tightest parallel parking

You think you’re a pretty awesome at parallel parking, don’t you? Well we all do really, it’s in the blood, but now one kiwi male can actually lay legitimate claim to being the world’s best at parallel parking.
Local hero Peter Bell has parked a Toyota Corolla in a space that’s just 27 cm longer than the car, on the set of the NZ Smashes Guinness World Records TV show at the North Harbour Stadium in Auckland. He didn’t just back it in nice and gentle either, Bell ripped up the handbrake and put the Corolla into a 180-degree spin into the park in one tidy piece of work.
The previous record for the tightest parallel parking was held by the Chinese and it was set at 32 cm, which represents the space remaining between the parked car, and the two vehicles in the front and at the rear. Bell’s first attempt took him to a new tightest parallel parking world record of 31 cm. The following attempts got him even further setting the new Guinness World Record of 27 cm.
Watch the video below to see the record breaking parking and to see the show’s host Mark Ellis almost wet himself with fake excitement.
Ronny Wechselberger, a young man competing on the set of the Guiness World Records show in Germany, managed to hand brake his Volkswagen Gold into a parallel parking spot with just 26 centimeters of room beyond the length of his car – setting the world record.

Fastest 25m plane pull

The fastest time to pull an aircraft for 25 m (82.02 ft) is 48.97 sec and was achieved by Zydrunas Savickas on the set of Lo Show Dei Record, in Milan, Italy, on 21 April 2011. For this record the aircraft must weigh more than 10 tonnes (11.02 ton), including the pilot. The aircraft’s engines must be turned off. At the start of the record attempt the participant is ready to pull the plane with a harness and a rope in front of him. This video is part of our video of the week series  each Wednesday we bring you one of the most interesting and exciting record-breaking videos from our archives!

Ray Allen and Paul Pierce establishing a short lived

LOS ANGELES — Media availability Saturday was even crazier than Friday’s sessions — twice as many reporters, and only 30 minutes total to scramble to as many of the 24 All-Stars as possible.
Some highlights:
• If you were watching NBA TV, I suspect it broadcast an attempt by Ray Allen and Paul Pierce to break the Guinness World Record for most three-pointers made by a duo in one minute. The shooters had to alternate shots, and they could only shoot once their teammate made a shot. Allen and Pierce made 13 in one minute, which set the record even though Pierce struggled early, missing at least four straight at one point while Allen waited to launch.
But of course that wasn’t it. The Western Conference team wanted a shot to break the record, and it trotted out Kevin Durant and Dirk Nowitzki to do it. The crowd, which booed the Celtics’ duo loudly, chanted for Kobe Bryant to join either Durant or Nowitzki, but the Lakers’ star did not oblige. He sat on the scorer’s table and watched.
Dirk and Durant finished with 15 and broke the record with at least 10 seconds to spare. They are just beautiful shooters to watch. One interesting note: Of the four guys who participated in this little exhibition, only Nowitzki opted to shoot from the corner. The other three shot from the wing, which is a lower-percentage shot but perhaps one that they are more used to taking in games.
• I asked Dwight Howard whether he was hoping the Magic would swing even a minor deal, if only to land him a backup center. He shook his head. “We have the talent to win it already.”
• An actual exchange I had with Russell Westbrook:
“The easy answer you guys often give is ‘hard work,’ but what do you guys need to do over the last 30 games to get your defense back to where it was by the end of last season?”
After a quick pause, Westbrook looked up and smiled: “Work harder.”
• Nowitzki rolled his eyes and smiled — in a good way — when I asked him about Caron Butler, and how the team deals with a situation in which one of its key players suffers what appears to be a season-ending injury but then suggests he might be able to return for the playoffs. Would it be easier if the situation were just a black-and-white thing, if the team could mentally just settle on the reality now that Butler is out for the season?
“We just don’t know,” Nowitzki said. “It’s a real question. But if he comes back, that’s great.”

Nowitzki credited Dallas’ excellent work with zone defense this season in large part to Del Harris, who was an assistant and consultant with the Mavs for most of the 2000s. “Del was really the zone guru,” Nowitzki said.
• The buzz for what JaVale McGee is going to do in the dunk contest is huge. That is all.

Michael Jackson new Guinness World Record

Michael Jackson's Michael album artwork as the worlds largest poster. The 29,070 ft poster smashes the previous record by more than 110 ft.

Guinness World Records, the global authority on record breaking, today confirms that a poster erected to mark the release of Michael Jacksons Michael album (released 13th December) has set a new record as the world¡¦s largest poster.

Guinness World Records confirmed that the poster of Michael Jackson's Michael measures 171ft by 170ft with a total surface area of 29,070 ft, smashing the previous record - held by the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver - by more than 110 ft.
To put it into perspective, the Michael poster would take over three quarters of the pitch at Wembley stadium, is longer than the equivalent of six Routemaster buses end-to-end and if upright would be higher than Nelson¡¦s column.

The poster, made of PVC and weighing one ton, took engineers three hours to install - and is less than 3,000 meters from one of Heathrow¡¦s main runways, literally viewable by all planes arriving/ departing.

Guinness World Records requires the world's largest poster to be publically displayed and formed of one single piece of material; it must also advertise a commercially available product. Guinness World Records sent an official adjudicator to the site situated at Rectory Farm in Middlesex to officially verify and measure the Michael poster.

The image of the album cover of ¡¥Michael¡¦ was created by painter Kadir Nelson in 2009. In the original oil painting, Kadir ¡V who is known for story telling through his art ¡V takes us on a journey through some key moments and important people in Michael Jackson¡¦s life. Michael is the much-anticipated album of newly completed recordings by the King Of Pop.

The poster will stay at what will be known as Michael's Field until 23rd December, after which, the poster will travel via sea container into continental Europe where it will be toured and displayed.
